New Generation of Electric Automobile Batteries
electric automobile, latest mobile, latest electric auto mobile,

An entirely new type of nanomaterial developed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute could enable the next generation of high-power rechargeable lithium (Li)-ion batteries for electric automobiles, as well as batteries for laptop computers, mobile phones, and other portable devices.

The new material, dubbed a "nanoscoop" because its shape resembles a cone with a scoop of ice cream on top, can withstand extremely high rates of charge and discharge that would cause conventional electrodes used in today's Li-ion batteries, latitude d620 battery latitude d820 battery to rapidly deteriorate and fail. The nanoscoop's success lies in its unique material composition, structure, and size.

The Rensselaer research team, led by Professor Nikhil Koratkar, demonstrated how a nanoscoop electrode could be charged and discharged at a rate 40 to 60 times faster than conventional battery anodes, while maintaining a comparable energy density. This stellar performance, which was achieved over 100 continuous charge/discharge cycles, has the team confident that their new technology holds significant potential for the design and realization of high-power, high-capacity Li-ion rechargeable batteries.

"Charging my laptop or cell phone in a few minutes, rather than an hour, sounds pretty good to me," said Koratkar, a professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering at Rensselaer. "By using our nanoscoops as the anode architecture for Li-ion rechargeable batteries, inspiron 1520 battery vostro 1500 battery, this is a very real prospect. Moreover, this technology could potentially be ramped up to suit the demanding needs of batteries for electric automobiles."

Batteries for all-electric vehicles must deliver high power densities in addition to high energy densities, Koatkar said. These vehicles today use supercapacitors to perform power-intensive functions, such as starting the vehicle and rapid acceleration, in conjunction with conventional batteries that deliver high energy density for normal cruise driving and other operations. Koratkar said the invention of nanoscoops may enable these two separate systems to be combined into a single, more efficient battery unit.

Results of the study were detailed in the paper "Functionally Strain-Graded Nanoscoops for High Power Li-Ion Battery Anodes," published Thursday by the journal Nano Letters.

The anode structure of a Li-ion battery physically grows and shrinks as the battery,gk479 , fk890 charges or discharges. When charging, the addition of Li ions increases the volume of the anode, while discharging has the opposite effect. These volume changes result in a buildup of stress in the anode. Too great a stress that builds up too quickly, as in the case of a battery charging or discharging at high speeds, can cause the battery to fail prematurely. This is why most batteries in today's portable electronic devices like cell phones and laptops charge very slowly -- the slow charge rate is intentional and designed to protect the battery from stress-induced damage.

The Rensselaer team's nanoscoop, however, was engineered to withstand this buildup of stress. Made from a carbon (C) nanorod base topped with a thin layer of nanoscale aluminum (Al) and a "scoop" of nanoscale silicon (Si), the structures are flexible and able to quickly accept and discharge Li ions at extremely fast rates without sustaining significant damage. The segmented structure of the nanoscoop allows the strain to be gradually transferred from the C base to the Al layer, and finally to the Si scoop. This natural strain gradation provides for a less abrupt transition in stress across the material interfaces, leading to improved structural integrity of the electrode.

The nanoscale size of the scoop is also vital since nanostructures are less prone to cracking than bulk materials, according to Koratkar.

"Due to their nanoscale size, our nanoscoops can soak and release Li at high rates far more effectively than the macroscale anodes used in today's Li-ion batteries," he said. "This means our nanoscoop may be the solution to a critical problem facing auto companies and other latitude d620 battery latitude d820 battery manufacturers -- how can you increase the power density of a battery while still keeping the energy density high?"

A limitation of the nanoscoop architecture is the relatively low total mass of the electrode, Koratkar said. To solve this, the team's next steps are to try growing longer scoops with greater mass, inspiron 1520 battery vostro 1500 battery , or develop a method for stacking layers of nanoscoops on top of each other. Another possibility the team is exploring includes growing the nanoscoops on large flexible substrates that can be rolled or shaped to fit along the contours or chassis of the automobile.

Along with Koratkar, authors on the paper are Toh-Ming Lu, the R.P. Baker Distinguished Professor of Physics and associate director of the Center for Integrated Electronics at Rensselaer; and Rahul Krishnan, a graduate student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Rensselaer.
Wi-Fi Direct - a lot of competition for Bluetooth

If you want to transfer media from a laptop on a "smart" television, it is necessary to organize and set up a network of Wi-Fi, this requires the presence of a third force, namely the wireless router. But if both devices support the same protocol, then why complicate things?

That is why the idea of standard Wi-Fi Direct, which provides data transmission in a very simple mode - as well as in the case of Bluetooth. In addition to data transmission, the protocol can solve a lot of related problems, for example, send documents to print, without the participation of the access point that is directly. But, of course, the vast opportunities open protocol for mobile devices, for example, for network games. The only drawback of Wi-Fi Direct is currently supported versions of Wi-Fi a, g and n. The official release of the standard has already taken place, the organization of Wi-Fi Alliance has already started issuing certificates.

How to Synchronize Your Mobile phone With Microsoft Outlook By way of Google Calendar For No cost
This tutorial really should perform with all phones that assistance Java and at least a GPRS connection (it was tested on Sciphone i68+ and Sciphone Dream G2). With this tutorial, you will learn how to synchronize your Microsoft Outlook calendar with your mobile phone by way of a information or WiFi connection. The programs we use are free and offered for download on our site.

The very first action is to synchronize Microsoft Outlook with Google Calendar. To do this, you need to very first download and install on your Personal computer, Google Calendar Sync, an application developed by Shirin Oskooi, the products manager for the software.

Once installed on your Pc, Google Calendar Sync will supply to select the sync frequency and sort:

• Bidirectional, Outlook to GCalendar and GCalendar to Outlook
• From Outlook to GCalendar
• From GCalendar to Outlook

This stage is finished, go to [http://www.google.com/calendar] and log in with your Gmail account or generate an account for the occasion.
The moment logged in, you need to initial depart the application synchronize the 2 calendars. If the software does not begin automatically, correct-click on the icon of Google Calendar Sync at the bottom of your Computer screen and synchronize manually.

Now you can start your Internet browser on your mobile telephone (we use Opera Mini V3.one) in GPRS / EDGE or WiFi and connect to [http://www.google.com/calendar].

Every connection to the calendar requires in GPRS only three to 4 k of information and 2k of info for each extra request. If you use a more recent version of Opera Mini, it will consider number of much more k for each and every connection.

12 ways to get rid of Telemarketers

1. If they want to loan you money,
tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and
you could sure use some money.

Ask, "How long can I keep it?
Do I have to ever pay it back,
or is it like the other money I borrowed before my bankruptcy?"

2. If you get one of those pushy people who won't shut up,
just listen to their sales pitch.

When they try to close the sale,
tell them that you'll need to go get your credit card.
Then, just set the phone down and go do laundry,
shopping or whatever.

See how long that commission based scum waits
for you to get your credit card.

3. If they start out with, "How are you today?"
say, "Why do you want to know?"
Or you can say, "I'm so glad you asked,
because no one seems to care these days and
I have all these problems,
my sciatica is acting up,
my eyelashes are sore,
my dog just died...."

When they try to get back to the sales process,
just continue on with telling about your problems.

4. If the person says he's Joe Doe from the ABC Company,
ask him to spell his name,
then ask him to spell the company name,
then ask where it is located.

Continue asking personal questions or
questions about the company for as long as necessary.

5. This one works better if you are male:
Telemarketer: "Hi, my name is Julie and I'm with Dodger & Peck Services....
You: "Hang on a second."
(few seconds pause)
"Okay, (in a really husky voice) "what are you wearing?"

6. Crying out, in well-simulated tones of pleasure and surprise,
"Julie!! Is this really you?
I can't believe it! Julie, how have you BEEN?"
Hopefully, this will give Julie a few brief moments of terror
as she tries to figure out where the heck she could know you from.

7. Say, "No," over and over.
Be sure to vary the sound of each no,
and keep an even tempo even as they're trying to speak.
This is the most fun if you can keep going until they hang up.

8. If MCI calls trying to get you to sign up with their Family and Friends plan,
reply, in as sinister a voice as you can muster,
"I don't have any friends...would you be my friend?"

9. If they clean rugs: "Can you get blood out, you can?
Well, how about goat blood or HUMAN blood -
chicken blood too?"

10. Let the person go through their spiel, providing minimal but necessary feedback in the form of an occasional "Uh-huh, really, or, "That's fascinating."

Finally, when they ask you to buy, ask them to marry you. They get all flustered, but just tell them you couldn't give your credit card number to someone who's a complete stranger.

11. Tell them you work for the same company they work for.
Example: Telemarketer: "This is Bill from Widget & Associates."
You: "Widget & Associates!! Hey I work for them too.
Where are you calling from?"

Telemarketer: "Uh, Dallas, Texas."
You: "Great, they have a group there too?
How's business/the weather?
Too bad the company has a policy against selling to employees! Oh well, see ya."

12. Tell the Telemarketer you are busy and
if they will give you their phone number you will call them back.

If they say they are not allowed to give out their number,
then ask them for their home number and
tell them you will call them at home
(this is usually the most effective method of getting rid of Telemarketers).

If the person says,
"Well, I don't really want to get a call at home,"
say, "Yeah! Now you know how I feel." (smiling, of course...)

BMW transfers 50% Stake to Chrysler

BMW transfers 50% Stake to Chrysler
German carmaker Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) said on Thursday that it has transferred its 50 percent stake in Brazilian engine joint venture Tritec Motors Limitada to DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler Group division.

As for the deal, which requires regulatory approval, BMW gave no financial details.

In a statement, the car maker said that Chrysler Group has assumed the responsibility for exploring long-term options for the Tritec operations. Thus, all possible alternatives for continuing the business for the long run are under analysis and assessment. The sale may include one of the facilities to a third party.

Tritec, established in 1997, produces 1.4- and 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engines for BMW's Mini brand and some Chrysler models. In January 2000, its large-scale production began. The statement said that the plant's annual production capacity is nearly 250,000 units.

A BMW spokesman said that the company would replace the motors with those made through its engine alliance with French carmaker PSA.
About BMW
Along with its automotive concerns, the BMW Group is composed of the development, production and marketing of automobiles, and motorcycles. It is also into financial services.

The BMW Group is the sole car maker in the world to pursue a purely premium strategy for all market sectors covered by its brands, from exclusive smaller cars to top-of-the-range luxury limousines. Its car brands include BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The Group also manufactures quality BMW 318i parts.

As to motorcycles, BMW also uses "premium" as the key word. The Group's strategy is to develop and build the best motorcycles, set standards in connection with technology, environmental protection and safety, and provide outstanding customer service in the pre- and after-sales phases.

The Group also perceives financial services as a key factor for success in today's mobile world. It provides financing and leasing, asset management, dealer financing and company car pools services.

Other business interests include insurance (Bavaria Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH), IT consulting and systems integration (Softlab GmbH).

About Chrysler Group

Chrysler is an American automobile manufacturer. It has independently been producing automobiles since 1925. Chrysler and its subsidiaries were part of the German based DaimlerChrysler AG from 1998 to 2007 after a burdensome deal known as a "Merger of Equals" with Daimler-Benz in 1998. Before 1998, Chrysler Corporation traded in the auto industry under the "C" symbol on the NYSE. Its U.S. operations are generally referred to today as the Chrysler Group. Mopar is another popular term for all Chrysler cars. It is actually the name for its parts operation.

In May 14, 2007 DaimlerChrysler AG announced the sale of 80.1 percent of Chrysler Group to Cerberus Capital Management L.P., an American equity firm. When the transaction is completed, Chrysler will take on the name Chrysler Holding LLC.

In today’s time, there are already a lot of ways on how to have a comfortable and convenient life and most of these ways involve the use of technology. Technology is a broad term that encompasses almost every system that we use in the way we live our lives.

Information technology helps a lot of people when it comes to making daily tasks easier and faster. The combination of information technology and communication technology is one of the main reasons on why we have the internet right now.

The internet brought us to a new level of communicating with other people. Instead of waiting for weeks just to send and receive a message across countries, all we need to do is to send an email which will only take few seconds to reach the destination. The internet has also helped a lot of businesses when it comes to expanding their operations.

Computers are other products of technology and without computers the life that we live today would be very different. Computers may be used in a lot of fields especially when it comes to automation. Computers help us process information in a fast manner. In an office environment, instead of using an old typewriter when creating documents, use a computer to make the entire process a lot easier and much faster.

There are plenty of ways on how to make our lives more comfortable and convenient but the advantages and benefits that technology entails top the list of the things we can do.

Nero is renewed in its ninth version

Nero is renewed in its ninth version
image
Today was the day chosen by the developers of Nero to expose its ninth version. In this installment, the program has gained about 150 megabytes (370 MB in total). This fact is easy to assume that much of the news found on Nero internal applications: catalog of photos, videos, music and more.
Those who prefer to have a program that all are in luck because Nero 9 is not just a recorder, in fact it is becoming less if you look at what takes the Burn tool in comparison with others. This does not prevent be the best recording package applications, and the true recall program.
Those who like an application for each function will be forced to choose during the installation do you want to add and what they prefer to discard. Will have to give the operator the "next, next, yes, yes, I agree, I agree."
The Recorder continues to maintain the same structure that I had from the fifth version, or perhaps even earlier. With good reason, developers prefer not to touch too something that works really well. Of course, included some improvements and new compatibility.
To handle the other applications, the wizard has been enhanced StartSmart. It has become a kind of exclusive to Nero Start Menu, without which it would be impossible to even remember all the functions of the toolkit. Its structure is clear and easy navigation to greatly thank to install the entire program.
In a future article we will try to fund the functions and values of the Nero suite of programs

Japanese Super Toilets With Control Panel

The Toto Washlet s400.

Our next stop will be Japan, where we will investigate the language of cleanliness. The Japanese have a fascination with cleanliness – separating their living spaces into “clean” and “unclean” areas – and this naturally results in a culture obsessed with toilets. (Seeing that my most popular posts have dealt with man marble injuries and truck nuts, I thought that the subject of toilets may satisfy you need for “potty humor”).

Wikipedia describes the culture of cleanliness in Japan quite well:
In Japan, being clean is very important, and some Japanese words for 'clean' can be used to describe beauty. The word kirei (??, ???) can be defined as "pretty, beautiful; clean; pure; orderly."

Perhaps this explains the popularity of the Japan-based company Toto, the world’s largest manufacturer of toilets. Toto not only produces the largest number of toilets worldwide, they’re also responsible for the world’s most advanced toilets, known as Washlets (???????) in Japan.

For example, the Toto s400, pictured above, includes cleansing water jets with adjustable water temperature, adjustable temperature air blowers, air purifiers (for the benefit of bystanders), an auto open and close heated seat, and a remote control panel that looks like the cockpit of the space shuttle. Some even play the first few tunes of Op. 62 Nr. 6 Frühlingslied by Felix Mendelssohn to relax your…mind.
A Washlet control panel.

Now, I agree that cleanliness is next to Godliness. But Holy Crap! Ahem…seems like holy crap is something you would want to flush down one of those things. And I’d be afraid I would push the wrong button and blast my nubblies off into outer space. In fact, in Britain, an advanced “Super Toilet” did recently blow itself to pieces due to an electrical malfunction. Talk about explosive diarrhea…

Seriously, it looks like you can order pizza and withdraw money from that control panel. Japanese people will soon be able to live their entire life from a sitting position. I mean it’s pretty neat and all that an entire Culture of Crappers has emerged in Japan, but I just don’t get the Japanese language of cleanliness.

Sri Pada Mountain

The mountain of Sri Pada is one of the rare places that people of four major religions in the world worship. The mountain is situated in the Rathskeller district with a height of 7,360 feet (2,243 meters).

Although this is only the second highest mountains, It rises alone majestically with a conical shape and offers an unobstructed view over land and sea. It is said that the mountain was the landmark of the ancient sea-faring Arabs, who came to Sri Lanka, to trade in gems, spices, ivory etc., and they, having sighted the conical mountain miles off shore, prayed to God for having brought them safely to the island.

According to the Sri Lanka's great chronicle, Mahawamsa, Buddha visited Sri Lanka three times. The last time he traveled from Kelaniya to Sri Pada, and then to Digavaphi. It is said that Buddha left his foot print on the rock at top of the mountain at the invitation of the Deity Saman (Saman Deviyo).

Deity Saman is recorded as having met the Buddha on his first visit to the island when he visited Mahiyangana to drive away the Tribe of Yakkas. Saman became a stream-entrant (sotapanna) after listening to the Buddha. Deity Saman then requested a object of worship , and Buddha gave him a handful of hairs with which he enshrined on a dagaba at Mahiyangana.
